NOTES+THOUGHTS
ANOTHER YEAR, ANOTHER DESIGN...
It has been close to a year since I made any updates to the website, so here is the new look for the site! I say 'look' because this is really just a skin of the older design, which I didn't want to just throw away. You'll also find that I've added a bunch more projects that were done in the past year, including studio work from my first year in grad school. I'm still sorting through a lot more so hopefully those will be added as I find the time.
No real updates other than that. Just another year of school+work.
Otherwise, check out this Arduino-based heliostat project I am working on as well:
WHAT IS {phatform}?
{phatform} is the creative product of sophat sam, a young designer trying to find his way in this wild and strange world. in my short career, i have worked as a web designer specializing in content management systems dealing with both front-end and back-end development focusing on usability and accessibility. i have also dabbled in web server management, specifically in debian-based koha deployments for small public libraries. in the other half of my life i am an architecture nerd who loves to believe that i will one day work in architecture. this site is an aggregation of my works and projects and anything else that interests me.
the name {phatform} is a play on my own name (sophat), nothing more.
who is sophat?
i am currently in my second year of graduate school at umass amherst going for my master in architecture. i graduated from hampshire college in 2008 where my studies culminated in a thesis on german expressionist architecture in drawings and an urban reconstruction of the city of lowell, ma. you can view/play with some of my work from that year here.
i currently live in northampton, ma and have held the position of assistant in architecture at smith college for the past three years now.
i was born and raised in a redcross refugee camp in thailand until i was seven when my family moved to lowell, ma and has since settled as part of the large cambodian population.
how do you contact me?
